Administration

Gib Lackey - Assistant Principal and Lead Administrator at the Freshman Campus

I am honored and humbled to serve as the assistant principal of Swansea High School at the Swansea High Freshman Academy. I have been privileged to serve as a Social Studies teacher, football and baseball coach, athletic director and administrator in public education for the past twenty-eight years. Twenty-one of those years have been spent here in Lexington Four. My wife, Dana, and I are proud to call Swansea home. Our three children, Thomas (17), Sara (15) and Samantha (12), have all attended Lexington Four schools throughout their academic careers. We enjoy supporting Swansea High athletics and being active in Swansea First Baptist Church.

The Freshman Academy has a history of producing students that are not only on track to graduate Swansea High School in four years, but are leaders in our community as well. I am dedicated to continuing that tradition. Relationship building is an integral part of the history of success here at the Freshman Academy. I look forward to working with our students, parents, community partners, faculty and staff to build those positive relationships that support our vision. We are committed to the academic, social, emotional and personal growth of our students.

Dawn Patterson - Assistant Principal and CATE Director

I have been a member of the Lexington 4 Family since I graduated from Clemson University in 1995.  I currently hold a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Special Education and a Master’s of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership.  I am certified in Special Education, Elementary Education, Elementary and Secondary Supervision.  I began my career at Monroe Pinckney Middle School teaching resource in 1995.  I continued as a middle school resource teacher and department head at Sandhills Middle and transferred to Swansea High School in 1999.  From 1999 – 2010, I served as the Special Education Department Head and resource teacher.  I moved to the Swansea High Freshman Academy as a resource teacher when it opened in the fall of 2010.  In the fall of 2014, I became the CATE Director/Assistant Administrator at Swansea High School.  I then moved to Sandhills Primary Elementary Schools as the Assistant Principal in the fall of 2016, where I served the last 2 years.

I am excited to be back at Swansea High School this year to serve as the Assistant Principal of Instruction and the CATE Director.  I believe it is our duty as educators to help all children reach their full potential and be a guide for them as they explore different options for their future.  Whether college, military, or  workforce bound, every student should graduate from Swansea High School ready to conquer the world and make their dreams come true!

I am married to Will.  I have an 18 year old step-son, Carter, who is a freshman at Lander University and a 2 year old son, Tripp, who loves to play with cars and read.  Our family are active members of Sardis Baptist Church.

Dawn Sargent - Assistant Principal

This year is such an exciting year for our students, faculty, and staff.  We can see the fine arts center’s progress and our athletic facilities’ improvements.  What a great time to be a Swansea Tiger!

I am honored to serve as an assistant principal at Swansea High United. I look forward to working with students to ensure they develop the skills and content knowledge needed to be successful in not only their personal lives but also the competitive and ever changing business world.  Businesses value characteristics such as work ethic and integrity; additionally, employers want staff who can communicate, collaborate, learn independently, and think critically.  I am excited to work with teachers and students, as students are given the opportunity to practice and master these skills.

On a personal note, I have lived in the Swansea-Gaston community for the last 17 years.  I moved to the area after graduating from Clemson University and working in the restaurant business and technical writing field.  My career in education began at Edisto High, my alma mater.  I taught English for 12 years at Swansea High and served as the instructional coach at the Freshman Academy for two.  I am married to Randy, and we will celebrate our 20th anniversary in February.
